How to export a webpage list to CSV

Directories and resource pages often display records as repeating cards instead of a table. Smart Data Extractor can turn suitable repeating lists into rows for a CSV file.

Collect and review a repeating list

  1. Install Smart Data Extractor and open the page you want to work with.
  2. Load the relevant content, then click the extension toolbar icon.
  3. Choose a suggested list area, or manually select an area that contains the repeating records.
  4. Compare several preview rows with the source cards. Where a field needs correction, pick the field on the page and review the change across all rows.
  5. Rename and reorder columns to match your spreadsheet. Hide fields you do not need.
  6. Choose CSV export and save the file. Import it into Excel, Google Sheets or another spreadsheet tool and review the columns.

Handle uneven cards

Some records may omit a subtitle, link or image address. Missing fields remain empty. Check that each column represents the same type of value across multiple rows; a visually similar layout does not always have consistent HTML structure.

List extraction limits

Each extraction includes up to 100 data rows and 40 fields. Only already-loaded main-document content is read. There is no automatic pagination, scrolling, detail-page crawling, iframe or website Shadow DOM extraction. Virtualized lists include only records currently present in the page DOM.

Image addresses are exported as text; the extension does not download the images. It does not follow each card to extract a detail page.

Need only the links?

For a simple URL list, use Smart Link Grabber’s link-to-CSV workflow. Use Smart Data Extractor when you want multiple fields from each record.
